About Sandra Olshak
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 30 years of experience working with clients of all ages with various presenting concerns in settings including community mental health, social service agencies and university counseling centers. I have practiced in the Midwest, Texas, and have recently relocated to California.
My practice currently focuses on individual therapy with adults presenting with concerns including depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss, and relationship issues. I have special interest in working with individuals struggling with motivation and follow through to be more successful at work, in school and in relationships. Whether diagnosed with ADHD or not, the focus of the work is on building the skills and managing the stress associated with the struggle.
Building a strong therapeutic relationship is the foundation of my work with clients. From the first visit, I hope that you leave feeling heard, affirmed and supported. The work we do is focused on the goals we set collaboratively. My style of interacting is affirming, participatory and warm, with a little humor sprinkled in as appropriate. My goal for virtual sessions is to make them feel as personal as in-person therapy, but from the safety and comfort of your own space. My work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in a person-centered manner, bringing in other evidence based techniques as appropriate for the client’s individual needs.
My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and welcoming.
